His education instilled a passion for research on Hi-Tech technologies and learning more that brought him to Europe and Barcelona. He received the Ph.D. degree from Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona. He is an R&D Engineer/Researcher at the Telecommunications Technological Center of Catalonia (CTTC). He is involved in some European H2020 and National 5G/6G projects, and he was awarded the first patent connected to the H2020 5G-SOLUTIONS project. He was a secondee at NEC Lab Europe and had scientific missions at TUM, TUHH, and UdG. He won multiple European, Government, and IEEE Grants and Fellowship. He is an active member of IEEE Young Professionals and IEEE Spain – Technical Activities and Standards. He serves as Organizing, Chairing, Reviewer, and TPC member in IEEE and Guest Editor in Elsevier. He is working in the Services as NetworkS (SaS) research unit at CTTC on his brainchild for 6G networks.

Name: Shafiullah Malekzai

Shafiullah Malekzai received his B.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul – Turkey; and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ondokuz Mayis University, Samsun – Turkey; in 2013 and 2016, respectively. He also participated in the Erasmus+ Study Program at the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow – Poland, in 2015. After graduation, he worked as a Telecom Engineer in different Telecom Service Providers in Kabul Afghanistan, for two years. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a lecturer and volunteer lecturer in different public/private universities in Kabul – Afghanistan. Since April 2019, he has been working as an Early Stage Researcher in MSCA ITN 5G STEP FWD project at the OTE Academy, Athens – Greece.

Name: Javier Pérez Santacruz

Javier Pérez Santacruz received his BSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Málaga (Spain) in 2016 and his double MSc degree in Telecommunications Engineering and Telematic and Telecommunication Networks from the University of Málaga (Spain) in 2018. He completed his thesis entitled “Simulator  of a bandwidth modem for underwater acoustic channels”.

His enthusiasm in optical-wireless systems led him to join the group of Prof. Idelfonso Tafur Monroy at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as a PhD student in November 2018. His PhD will be focused on modulation formats in analog-radio-over-fiber (ARoF) fronthaul for 5G systems.

Michail Dalgitsis received his BSc degree in Informatics Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece on 2012 and his MSc degree in Telecommunications from Technological Educational Institute of Central Macedonia, Serres, Greece on 2018. His MSc thesis focused on lab signal measuremens of WCDMA/HSPA+ Downlink. He worked for a short period at Artemis ITS as an optical field engineer in a project in Germany. Now he joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at CTTC

Name: Maryam Lashgari

Brief CV:

Maryam Lashgari received her B.Sc. degree from Shahid-Beheshti University, in 2013 with honors, and the M.Sc. degree from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 2016 both in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Systems. Her M.Sc. thesis focused on energy-efficient resource allocation in small cell networks by using a game-theoretic approach. From Apr. 2016 to Mar. 2018, she worked as an IP/MPLS planning engineer in Huawei Technologies Co. in Tehran. She was a TPC member and reviewer of ICNC2017, 2018 and 2019, IWWCN2017, and reviewer of IEEE TCCN, IEEE VTC F’16 and EEEP2016. In 2018, she joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at Chalmers University of Technology. Her fields of interest include wireless communication, network economics, optical networking, and application of game theory and machine learning.

Farooq Umar received his BSc degree in Engineering – Electronics from the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila (Pakistan) in 2013 and his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (Pakistan) in 2016. His MSc thesis focused on transmitter design and power link budgeting of WDM PONs/Hybrid WDM-TDM PONs. He worked for almost two years at WATEEN TELECOM LIMITED ISLAMABAD as an executive VSAT Engineer- Satellite Department. Now he joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at AUTH.

 

Name: Lei Xue

Brief CV:

Lei Xue is from China. He received his BSc degree in communication engineering from Hunan University (HNU) in 2015 and the MSc in Information and Communication Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in 2018. His research focused on the high-speed passive optical network (PON) and short reach optical transmission using low-cost optical signal processing. In 2018, he joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at Chalmers University of Technology. Now he is working on mixed optical and electrical signal processing for next-generation low-cost high capacity PON.

Name: Mohammadreza Mosahebfard

Mohammadreza Mosahebfard received his BSc degree in Electronics Engineering in 2013 from Shiraz University of Technology (SUTECH), Shiraz, Iran, and his MSc degree in Communications Engineering in 2016 from Tarbiat Modares University (TMU), Tehran, Iran. His MSc thesis focused on Power Reduction in OFDM-based Indoor Optical Wireless Systems. During his MSc, he collaborated as a teacher assistant for the course ”Optical Communications Systems” with TMU. He published a paper after his MSc studies at West Asian Colloquium on Optical Wireless Communications (WACOWC2118). Since August 2018, he is an ESR at Iquadrat Informatica SL, Barcelona, Spain in the framework of the Marie Skłodowska Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD project.

Steven Caicedo Mejillones received his Diploma in Telematics Engineering in 2014 and his Master Degree in Telecommunications in 2017, both from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), Guayaquil, Ecuador. His Master degree project was titled “Development of a tool for the prediction of radio waves propagation in indoor and outdoor microcellular environments based on the technique of 3D ray tracing”. From April 2014 to October 2016 he worked as an outsourcing RF Engineer at Huawei Technologies in Guayaquil. After that, he worked as Radio Access Network Planning and Optimization Engineer at the mobile network operator Claro Ecuador until July 2018 and since August 2018, he has been an Early Stage Researcher at SIAE MICROELETTRONICA S.p.A. in Milan, Italy, within the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP FWD program framework.

Name: Eugenio Ruggeri

Eugenio Ruggeri received both his Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and his Master Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Università di Bologna (Italy), respectively in 2014 and 2017.

His Bachelor thesis concerned the training of a computer vision classifier and its implementation in a c++ software for real time car recognition and his Master Degree thesis focused on the development of a synthesis technique of the driving sequences of linear time-modulated arrays through a Genetic Algorithm.

After his Master Degree, he worked at Vodafone for Alten Italy until joining the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at Phos Lab.

Name: Jiang Liu

Brief CV:

Jiang Liu received his BSc degree in Communication Engineering in 2014 and MSc in Communication and Information systems in 2017 from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). His research interest was spatial modulation and the other multiple-input multiple-output techniques. In 2018, he joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student in Université Paris-Saclay, France. Now he is working on modeling and optimization of innovative cellular networks architectures.

Name: Massimiliano Maule

Brief CV:

Massimiliano Maule received his B.Sc. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Padova, Padua, Italy, in 2014, and the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Trento, Trento, Italy, in 2017. He participated at the Erasmus+ Study Programme at the Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland. After the 10 months of exchange program, he contributed as an External Researcher, again at Tampere University of Technology, to his master thesis project focused on a new channel access technique for Wi-Fi and LTE on the unlicensed spectrum. From 2017 to 2018, he worked for Nokia as a Radio Researcher in Espoo, Finland and as a Network and System Architecture Engineer in Vimercate, Italy. Since July 2017, he is an Early Stage Researcher at Iquadrat Informatica S.L, Barcelona, Spain, in the context of the MSCA ITN 5G STEP FWD program.

Name: Fadil Habibi Danufane

Fadil Habibi Danufane received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia in 2013 and his MSc in Computational Science from Kanazawa University, Japan in 2017. Since January 2014, he has been holding a position as a research assistant in Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), under the Research Center of Electronics and Telecommunication. His research interest includes applications of mathematical tools such as stochastic geometry in wireless communication analysis and modelling. Since June 2018, he has been a part of Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at Université Paris-Saclay in France, working on modeling and optimization of cellular networks with hyper dense small cell deployments.

Name: Dimitrios Konstantinou

Dimitrios Konstantinou is from Greece. He received his Diploma in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2015. He obtained an MSc degree in Telecommunications with specialization in optical communications from the Technical University of Denmark in 2017. He completed his thesis entitled “Characterization and optimization of power profiles in optical transmission links”.

His enthusiasm in hybrid optical-wireless systems led him to join the group of Prof. Idelfonso Tafur Monroy at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as a PhD student in October 2017. His PhD wil be focused on analog-radio-over-fiber (ARoF) fronthaul for 5G systems.

Name: Kebede Tesema Atra

Kebede Tesema Atra received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Hawassa University (Ethiopia) in 2009. Then he worked in Ethio telecom for more than four years. He joined the Erasmus Mundus MAPNET program in 2014 and received double master degrees from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy) and Aston University (UK). His MSc thesis focused on designing arrays of high-power germanium photodiodes to enhance the combined RF output power which was carried out at IHP microelectronics (Germany) in collaboration with Techniche Universität Berlin. Finally, he was rehired at Ethio telecom after completing his MSc. Now he joined the Marie-Curie ITN 5G STEP-FWD program as a PhD student at III-V Lab.
